TECHNICAL DESIGNER

Location: Columbus, OH — Contract/Remote/Hybrid/On-Site
Supervisor: Principal Designer
Type: Part-time, 1099

Pay: $55 - $75 / hour (based on experience)

Hackett House Studio is looking for a Technical Designer to join our small but mighty team! We’re searching for someone who loves the details: we're talking clean drawings, thoughtful documentation, and precision that makes design ideas come to life. This is a part-time, 1099 position, perfect for someone who thrives on flexibility and is excited to collaborate on high-end residential projects.

What You’ll Do

Create accurate CAD drawings: floor plans, elevations, RCPs, and millwork details
Translate design concepts into polished, professional drawing sets
Aid the Principal Designer in creating design concepts and sourcing hard and soft materials
Help develop construction documents and design packages
Revise and update drawings based on redlines, feedback, and project changes
Support the team with finish plans, specs books, and material coordination
Obtain quotes from vendors to ensure design elements are aligning with stated allowances
Review shop drawings to ensure everything aligns with design intent
Balance multiple projects at different stages with ease and organization

What We’re Looking For

Proficiency in SketchUp, Layout, and AutoCAD (or Revit)
3+ years of professional drafting experience in interior design or architecture
Super detail-oriented and organized (you love getting things just right)
Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, sections, and elevations
Comfortable working independently while being a collaborative team player
Bonus points if you have experience with high-end residential projects
Knowledge of detailing, construction methods, and building codes is a plus, but not strictly required (don't worry, we'll train you!)
Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign and Lightroom is also a plus
