A Modern Dusty Blue and Brass Thanksgiving Table

My secret to a beautiful and unexpected Thanksgiving is to mix styles and stray from the traditional color palette. Keep reading to see my dusty blue and brass thanksgiving table!

The days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday are some of the most special. There is a swell of anticipation that lingers throughout the week as we fight crowds at the grocery store and brim with excitement at the prospect of getting to spend time with our beloved family members. To create an especially memorable holiday for my guests, I like to create a tablescape that is beautiful, simple and inspires conversation.

My secret for a compliment-worthy table is to mix styles and to do the unexpected. While I have a deep appreciation for the intricate and carefully-curated tables of decades past, I am always looking for opportunities to use heirloom pieces in new and exciting ways. A beautiful, contemporary table will be devoid of fussiness and, instead, let textures and an unexpected color palette steal the show.

This year, I paired my grandmother’s Imperial china dinner plates with modern pewter chargers and seagrass wrapped water glasses. Flanked by a set of simple brass flatware, I topped the plates with farmhouse-inspired windowpane napkins which have been adorned with a rust-colored velvet ribbon. Although dusty blues aren’t a traditional staple of a fall color palette, the table’s accents of orange, brown and magenta bring a sense of autumnal familiarity.

By mixing pieces from different time periods and design styles, you can create a Thanksgiving table that is unexpectedly beautiful and endlessly stylish. Now, all that’s left to do is enjoy a wonderful meal with your closest loved ones!
